John Paul Jones Heads Home - 1905

1905. Marine Guard escorts the body of John Paul Jones from France, landing at Annapolis July 23 for interment at the U.S. Naval Academy.

    John Paul Jones, father of the US Navy, first command was the sloop Providence. The current commander of the USS Providence (SSN-719) is CDR Michael Holland. And the father of the modern submarine design was John P. Holland.

    It may not be ironic but I thought it was an odd coincidence.
